SOLD Z4 2.2 2005 (E85) 57,300 miles 1 previous owner SOLD

Post by Peterboroughdave » Sat May 20, 2017 8:33 am

I am advertising my wife's 2005 Z4 car for sale as she has recently bought an 2010 E89.
I will describe the car and if you are interested then please PM or email me for further information etc. I struggle with posting photographs on the forum but can email them direct. (Please PM with email address if you are interested)
Sarah has owned the car almost 10 years since purchasing from a main BMW dealer in August 2007.
It is a 2.2 (6 cylinder) in sterling silver (met. grey) with red interior and 17" turbine alloy wheels. It has a multi-function steering wheel from new wheel and is in original condition except for removal of the run-flat tires. Mileage is 57,300 and the car was MOT'd in April 2017. The only MOT advisary was tires and we have since had 4 new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 3 tires fitted.

The service history is very good, mostly main dealer (BMW Sycamores ) but more recently an independent local garage (TWS auto's in Peterborough) who specialise in BMW, Mercedes and Porsche's. We have all the MOT's certificates and receipts for work carried out over the years.

Body work is extremely good and interior is great with just slight wear on the drivers side bolster.
No accident damage/repair and not peppered with stone chips. Car has always been 100% reliable and a pleasure to own/drive.

This month (May) we had the roof motor moved to the boot as a preventive measure, work carried out by forum member Mike-Ducklakeview . Mike came down from Liverpool to do a mass roof motor move in Peterborough. From what I saw (only say about 8 of the roof motors being moved), our motor was in the best condition of the 13 cars that had their motors moved on 13.05.2017., it had a completely dry plastic casing/foam surround and no corrosion. Mike completed the relocation of the motor and topped up the hydraulic fluid.

We are asking £4000 and the car is in Peterborough

I am out most of the day (Saturday 20th), but will try and put up some photographs this evening.

Best regards

Dave

Might be an idea to get some pics up mate.

I had my roof motor relocated by Mike on the same day as you! Small world!

This sounds like it'd be a great car for someone, and seems like a very reasonable price too.

Hoping this works, but please bear in mind that I have an IT phoebia (and I can not spell too well either :( )

On Sunday I will try and get my daughter to take some better photo's on her I phone and ask her to help me upload to the forum :headbang:

Thanks for your positive comments guys, we will see if there is any interest on here. We are not in any great rush as the car is part of the family now, really should sell it though as only have a single garage and I would be forever cleaning cars.

Paddy, you have consistantly supported the 2.2 which as you say still provides the wonderful straight 6 engine and is easily quick enough for UK roads. You could always buy it as a spare,

Pabby 1980, did we meet ?, what time were you at Robs house for Mike's Cambridgeshire roof motor move ? I was there from circa 10.00 until 5.30 as it was great to talk Z4's and see the other owners cars

Dave,

Some interior pics would be good please, I'm in the market at present, but was really wanting a 3.0ltr.

However this looks like a nice motor in the colour scheme I was wanting.

If you want a quality roadster for top down enjoyment don't dismiss the 2.2, it's actually the smoothest of the Z4 engines.

Same engine as the 2.5 and 3.0 M54, so how come it's smoother?

I remember reading a piece on the M54 when it won engine of the year in 2003 & 4, smoothness and lack of vibration was a big scoring point the 2.5 actually took the prize, but the NVH was even lower in the 2.2 presumably slightly lighter pistons and less 'bang' throwing the moving parts so less dynamic mass.

When I test drove a 2.2 I was very impressed with the engine, and would have bought but the garage wouldn't shift enough on the price.

I agree with Ewazix, IMO the 2.2 is by far the best and smoothest of all the engines that BMW have used in the Z4.

Please, no squabbling on my Z4 for sale post. :driving:

If someone can tell me how to update the post heading when the car is sold, that would be great

If you open your first post in the thread and use the edit button (square pencil top right) to change the title in the first header you can mark it as sold. Nice quick sale
