Selling my M Coupe!

Post by LukyBowler » Sat Jul 29, 2017 12:02 pm

Bit gutted I have to do this but the girlfriend and I have just decided we are off to do a ski season in November and I hate the thought of this car sitting around gathering dust.

Bought this having owned a Cayman S (gen 2) and found the M infinitely more fun to drive.

All details on the eBay post if anyone's interested!

Seems very reasonably priced to what's out there and a nice spec.

How did you find the Cayman out of interest

Loved the Cayman S, better equipped than the M, better quality and felt more solid, probably faster A to B as was so easy to drive... but it just wasn't very fun. The boxer engine isn't particularly exciting to rev out even when you have a nice exhaust on the car.

Saying that, I still want another one at some point :D

Looks excellent VFM, and those wheels look great on a black car

I'm not sure about running winter tyres* all year round on a Z4M, but at least they're not some budget rubbish :P

* Sottozero are not all season tyres, that's would be the Cinturato All Season - which are not available in Z4M sizes

They're not marketed as year round tyres but having been on a few blasts in hot weather and dry roads, they're past a surprising amount of time before they lose grip and become a bit slidey. Obviously they wouldn't work on a track day...

That's very keenly priced for a nice looking example.

I like the fact that it has been debadged at a time when BMW are sticking M badges on anything (and owners are too).

Well never heard of sottozeros being described as an all year round tyre for a high performance car before

They are full on winter tyres .. ran them on my 3 series and X1 through the winter .. now running Dunlop wintersports on the X3 ... but only November to March

But then I do live 200m above sea level in the Pennines !

Not overly convinced they are the best tyre for summer in south west London though !

I certainly never said they were the best tyre for summer as they're clearly not. But what tyres are marketed as - in this case a winter tyre - and how they actually perform in all weathers is a very different thing. Having driven these hard on hot dry roads they actually hold up just fine and the wear on them is normal too. And obviously fast forward two months when it starts getting colder, wetter and less grippy on the roads, they will be perfect.
