this type is better

https://sm-t.co.uk/product/chepstow/

for two reasons, the one you've shown rolls along the garage/drive floor chewing it up and getting snagged. Second centreline access is severely restricted.

I know this because I've had the type you show when I restored my last MGB

cheers
now I'm about to have more time I've suddenly got less toys to play with!

Liking that. The second one especially but too expensive for what I would use it for.

I've looked at those - 2 problems..

Takes up a lot more space on the floor when not in use, and would have to have scaffold planks either side so the Zed could park over it, and... They are £500 more new..

Floor wouldn't be a problem as I'd cut some 5 mm stainless sheet to act as runners and protect the concrete in the garage.

Hi Mike, Snap! I'm on the brink of ordering one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-LIFT-MOBI ... Sw3YNXXwtX

I was already fed up trying to get under the Caterham so now I've bought the Zed as well I just HAVE to get one

I guess we're both looking at the same firm who appear to know what they are doing - fell uneasy about getting a used one and from the ones I've seen used the cost of a good one is so close to buying new anyway.

just by way of comparison this is what I have now

https://www.cjautos.eu/NEW_3_IN_1_TILTI ... p/cl01.htm

nowhere near as good as the ones above but takes up very little space and is fine for occasional use
now I'm about to have more time I've suddenly got less toys to play with!

I like the look of these - they come as a pair, one for each side and are driven by a small hydraulic pump. They don't lift as high as a full-blown scissor lift but are much more portable and can even hang on the garage wall when not in use

Not sure I'd want to be working under one of those.

What safety features are there?

Had looked at those, BUT with them not being linked together, I wouldn't be getting under there! They look like they could topple over to the side to me.

They wouldn't topple over with a car on. They also appear to have a safety bar on them so they can fall down due to lack of pressure.

Love the idea of these but wouldn't use it enough to warrant buying one.
That pic looks all wrong though, almost like its round the wrong way to be lifting safely. It looks like it is too far towards the front and not lifting in the middle.
