Fozzstar, try replacing the anti roll bar bushes on the rear. I did this and it cured the clunk/knock. Sounds like someone hitting the underside of boot with a mallet. Look else where on the forum.
Why it cures the clunk..i don't know?
Buy the bits and find a friendly garage to fit. An half hour job.
It might save your sanity!

Edit, update, still thought there was somethng wrong so rotated the spring through 90 degrees now all quiet.

Could do with some help here from other z4 owners

1. 20i msport
2. Year/reg 2012/62
3. Colour Black Sapphire
4. Red

5a issue description - unable to get into car when any form of ice/frost (this week temp was 0/1degree c). When I do get in window does not sit correctly and I have a gap until window has suitably de-iced to enable me to drop it.
5b current status - unresolved
5c warranty claim - yes
5d comments? Car has been into two dealers including the one I purchased from. First said that this was common fault and nothing they could do, selling dealer had car for a week and claimed it was fixed. Cold weather this week and happened both mornings-dealer now saying nothing more they are prepared to do.

My latest problem cropped up at the end of warranty check last week

1. E89 35iS
2. 2011 - 11reg
3. Metallic black
4. Black

5. Issues experienced,

5a. Issue description - Leaking F/N/S adaptive damper [R/N/S having previously failed and been replaced]
5b. Current status - Part on back order, awaiting dealer to advise delivery*
5c. Warranty Claim? - Dealer has advised Cost will be covered completely under warranty - same as previous damper failure
5d. Comments? - Any vital information or comments to add? * Part required for car to pass MoT - last replacement took several weeks to arrive so I'm resigned to a dealer courtesy car for a while. Looking into handing the car back as enough is enough!

Don't know how to copy and paste the template
E89 m sport
2013
2,0 l
Titanium silver
Water in rear light cluster , brake recall

when dry small hairline cracks and crazing appears on both left @ right light clusters at base of clusters where sealing strip is located ,Ryebrook Warwick looked at problem

Fully sorted two new rear light units fitted under warranty ,
Brake recall carried out , not a problem on our car

Every we have taken car to Ryebrook the service is very good they lend my wife new 4 series coupes for the day ,cannot fault the service , occasionally we have a faint whirring noise like a failing bearing coming from the back I know it's the fuel pump but every time I take it to Ryebrook it stops ,I mentioned it to one of the chaps there when dropping it off once he advised off the record its an atmospheric problem ,we will see ,but I have to be honest I love this car ,driving around at night with roof down is great , just wish the rain would stop to allow me to use it. aaagh !!!!!

E89 35i DCT M-Sport
MY 2013

1. Driver's side door: central locking system / comfort access not working, need to use the key to get in!
New door opener ordered under warranty, have been waiting for it for over three weeks now !

2. Leaky sealing let rain water in (at least) on the driver's side.
All door sealings replaced under warranty, but that did not solve it. Roof sealings have been ordered, the car has stayed in the BMW repair shop for a week now, waiting for the parts.
There is a possibility that #1 is one consequence of #2 :-(

All in all, I am not too happy with my new car so far.

Hi

Just been reading all this threads, most are very low mileage cars and in my opinion a total disgrace

Would you believe only after 6 months ownership I have a clunk from the rear axle (car has only done 300 miles .. pile of shite)

I phoned WBAC today and they have offered me £32k .. very tempted to let them have it and I would go back to a E85 M54 . currently thinking of purchasing Govs example

all the best

Hi

Just been back from local dealer where I purchased the car .. and said this is normal (strange did not do it in the 1st 200 miles ?)

they said it is when the DCT drops out of drive into neutral and the drive tension back lash is released ?? would this be correct ?

I am a electrical engineer not a mech ?

Bloody hell, unhappy again? Sell the damn thing.

But seriously it's just a clunk from a drivetrain, I get it now and then. It's not a problem. A problem is when something snaps, flies off, makes a screaming noise or just plain doesn't work.

Trust me I'm an expert in learning when to draw the line.

I think you are really trying to force yourself not to like your car.
It sounds like it was a spur of the moment decision to buy it and it wasnt really what you wanted.
You have done 300 miles and are thinking of changing it, we done 270 miles today just messing around.
Good luck with your older car when you buy it and hopefully nothing goes wrong with it.

300 miles doesn't seem a lot to get a true reflection of a car if it really doesn't suit then move it on ,
I covered a similar amount if not less with a Alfa Brera over 6 weeks before we parted company , just wasn't for me
There are so many other cars to choose from why have one you don't like :?

Hi Mr Wilks

Looking at a z4m .. sick and tired of RFT, god only knows why BMW insist on fitting the bloody things

I thought I was buying a premium car with no rattles etc .. have no time for it currently, see how I feel over the weekend .. but I feel WBAC can have it

You should think about this!

You are really considering a 25k used car against a 300mile "new" car?

If the current car has some problems, just have them fixed in the remaining 2,5 years of it warranty !

I would suggest you get longer test drives in future and just swap the tyres if they bother you !

You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.
