E 89 heater settings?

Post by TONYMOR » Sun Dec 04, 2016 7:19 pm

Albeit I've had
my E89 two years now I'm having trouble getting the heat to come through the face vents when it's delivering to the screen and footwell. It just sends cold air through . Any advice out there ?

How is the hot/cold settingwheel in the middle of the dash set?

Should work normal, maybe you have actuator problems

Yep, check the thumb wheel between the two face vents-it goes hot/cold independently of the main temperature dial

If you want air to all areas you need all three direction lights on on the flow switch Tony. Also have you seen the thumb dial below the red emergency indicator triangle? That needs to be over to the red. Are your side vents dials open? If you travel alone have you turned the passenger vent dials off? With the top down I have just the one centre right vent open directed at my left hand, the vent to the right of the steering wheel the same thing, the direction flow has the bottom and centre lights on, the central thumb dial over to hot, it's utterly toasting, too hot actually so I vary the hand thumb dials to approx half open.

Hope that is of some use.

Thanks all for the suggested. I had a problem a year or so ago when heat randomly came top speed from the vents it turned out to be a ecu problem and was replaced under warranty so I'll contact dealership to get a check on it . Will update when concluded.

Quote from Controls / Climate section: "Ventilation - Thumbwheel for adjusting the amount of cool air from the vents to the upper body area. This can be used to adjust the air temperature for the upper body area" i.e. turn it to the red section and you get hot air

The car is going into the dealership soon for investigation as a similar problem occurred a while ago which required a new part which maybe has a further fault.

Don't mean to point out the obvious, but if you don't know about the thumbwheel why don't you look at that first? :?
Keep it simple

It appears to be working intermittently so ive to use it and monitor it and update the dealership as quote " intermittent problems are difficult so it's best to wait until it shuts down again ".
Watch this space .
