A code reader should throw up the specific issues, if you haven't got one a good Indy BMW specialist should be able to help.

You have a few options. Buy a cable and software to read yourself, See if a local member can help or go to a dealer or other garage. Your recovery may help and is worth checking.
Once you have the codes read putting your issue in the E85/86 section may help get more replies.
Best option imho is to get your own. I do have a cable and software I'll be looking to sell and are a bit more tech savvy.

As previous replies have said you need to find out why it same on - there are loads of potential reasons, O2 sensors, cat sensors, HVA issues, etc. etc.
If you can find a local BMW specialist (there are some listed on here) use them, or invest in your own code reader (that is what I plan to do now, seeing as there are 5 in the family)!
