Post by danodp » Sat May 06, 2017 1:07 pm

Hello finally just got my first Z4... 2.0 ... 2005 plate with FSH.. Just had full service and inspection on delivery etc.... but i noticed this small patch of oil and slight burning smell when parked up.

Can someone in know have a look at this and tell me what it is or if theres any concerns. I did get 3 months warranty ....

Thanks

Report immediately if this is a trade sale and get them to fix, looks more like a weep or maybe a spill. It may not be serious but not the point, if they say it is nothing to worry about insist on a statement it in writing to protect against any future issues.

That's a weeping cam cover gasket, not just spillage, you can tell just by looking. I'd get onto them, as the gasket itself ain't cheap, around £70 trade for an Elring from memory...

It's probably leaking in other places too.

Bit late now it has been so long, doubt my advice was taken which would have protected the OP.
