Just learned that I have an extra 12v outlet!

I have a 2011 e89 z4 and just found a 12v outlet near the fire wall on the passenger side I wish I had found it in my manual
a while ago.

I think this might be a U.S. Market thing.

The outlet is located under glove box toward the fire wall on the left side we have other bmw with the same thing

Just been for a look and there's nothing there. I think it must be for U.S. Market.
I think it would have been a useful additition for me.

There's a hole for 12v socket.
I fitted and wired across to the fuse box so I could have 12v power with the ignition off.
Also did the same in the boot to run a electric pump.

My z was made in Germany but maybe you are right. The 12v outlet looks different than a normal outlet you have in a dash.

That's fitted as part of the extended storage pack... I found that out a few days ago when I found a hole & no power socket for my dash cam... now got an ugly cable running across the centre console & my ash tray has to be permanently open

If it is the same as the X5, you can piggy back at the back of the console to the wires that go to the cigarette lighter and fit it there.

Great post! I would have never found this!!! I decide to plug in my old radar detector using this... Very convienent. Thanks!
