Uniroyal Tyres?

Post by Mark555 » Mon Oct 19, 2015 2:08 am

Hi,

Has anyone got any advice/knowledge of using Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyres? Just wondering, as Tyreleader has a reasonable deal for all four corners of these at the moment. Any feedback would be welcome. Thanks in advance. :)

Get them bought & get them on :driving: ive a pair on the front of my ZM (235 35 19) done almost 4k with zero issues , very quiet ,very grippy & plough through standing water with ease
My son also covered similar miles with a set of 4 on his Golf R32 , again no issues

What sort of pressure should I have in these, I have 225/45/17 on the rear.
Thanks

How do these perform during winter?

Looking to get some winter tyres (225/40/18). Can get a pair of uni royal for £135 which I think is a good deal

Apparently they are excellent in the wet for a rear wheel drive car and about as good as your going to get for the price. :driving:

I'm looking at a pair of these to replace the Bridgestone RFTs at the front and smooth out some of the bumps from the sport suspension (it currently has Avon ZZ5's on the rear). Mr Wilks suggested increasing the height from 225/40 to 225/45 for 'extra smoothness'. Has anyone tried this? The only other issue is that the Rainsport 3 doesn't come in a taller 255/40 to replace the Avons at the back.

Any thoughts?

Also, the Rainsport 3's are an XL tyre which I would have thought would make them stiffer or needing to run at a higher pressure, contributing to a worse ride...

Coming from run flats youre going to increase the plushness of the ride a fair bit anyway without having to increase the sidewall height, personally I'd stick with the original sizing and avoid any insurance issues that could occur from changing them

You're probably right  I would think having RFT's on the front and non-RFT's on the back could be an insurance issue too...

Does anyone have experience of Rainsport 3's vs. Eagle F1 Asymmetrics?

Sort of...
I'm running the F1's on the Zed and they are the best tyre I've had on it in 8 years and 4 sets. (Run flats, Falkens and now F1's)
On the Jag XF I'm running the Uniroyal but Summer version of the tyre and they are good.
Both on quick 3.0 RWD cars.

On balance I'd not go for the Uniroyal, (being the second tier brand of Continental) on the Zed and get the F1's again as they are so darned good.
Jaguar F-Type 3.0 Supercharged V6 S, Stratus Grey, LSD, Active Exhaust, CF wheels, Performance brakes, Sports seats and mods ongoing
Gone but not forgotten Z4 3.0i SE Roadster ///M front, Red ///M leather seats, Aero sills
