Alloy dilemma

Post by sars » Fri Nov 18, 2011 10:31 am

Having just fitted new winter boots to my standard 17" alloys, I have been on the prowl for set of MV3 of fleabay, however this is proving more difficult and expensive than I first thought, with most requiring refurbishment and/or tyres. A friend, another engineer, suggested I try this place http://www.rimstyle.com/ and now I have a real dilemma......never been sure of aftermarket wheels, especially replicas, however sticking to a known brand like BBS or Momo gives me a lot of re-assurance, misguided perhaps?

So I have narrowed it down to 3 choices, what do you lot think?

1. Momo Revenge 225/40/18 - ET35

2. MAM RS2 225/40/18 - ET35

3. BBS CF 225/40/18 - ET38

Have a little concern over the BBS as the offset is 9mm higher @ ET38 than my 17" @ ET29, could this be a problem?

Personally I would go for the 1st or the 3rd option but I think to be honest there are better options on the market for the E89..

Also would you not consider 19"... Go on you know it makes sense :D

All 3 look nice, although I am generally not a fan of aftermarket... as aftermarket go though, v.nice... of the 3 I like the middle one least.

I would go for option 3. Great looking wheel and will be easiest to keep clean

What are the better options?

As for 19" not with the motorway miles I do, the tyre drone isn't pleasant for long periods at the wheel.

My preference so far is 3, 1 then 2, but as I have stated just worried about the offset being to high on the BBS

Thanks JDM, yes the CSL's do look good on the e89, however all the wheels you've picked are 19" :poke:
