Anyone running 265 35 19 and 235 40 19 tyres?

Post by no fit state » Sun Feb 07, 2016 2:49 pm

I'm looking at new wheels but kinda stuck on whether I should go for the standard CSL tyre size of 265 30 19 and 235 40 19 which gives a smaller rolling radius and therefore bigger arch gap than the standard 18" M setup (nearly 10mm on the rear). Or go up a profile to 265 35 19 and 235 40 19 which is only slight bigger than the standard 18" setup.

So there are plenty of pictures of 19" wheels with CSL size tyres on the net but is anyone running the larger 35 and 40 profile setup and have some pictures they can post up so I can get an idea on how much side wall that visually translates to?

Cheers.

The 265 35 and 235 40 profiles?

That would help as I should be able to find some good side on shots of the alpina

Any pictures? Was concerned these sizes might be a little to stretched on 8.5 and 9.5

225/35/19 on a 19x8.5'' alloy does indeed look a little stretched.

Had this thread bookmarked when I was looking into going up a tyre size. Bit of an uber-bump, but thought I’d post some pics of 235/40/19 and 265/35/19 for future reference, since I couldn’t find many when I was looking either! :)

The below are with KW V3s on max height, so -10mm front and -5mm rear vs stock. The tyres are Vred Ultrac Vortis.

The ride and handling is a lot better than with my previous setup (235/35 and 275/30), but the fronts rub like a bastard on full lock. I need to mod the brake duct openings a bit. Don’t have a decent pic to hand, but basically it’s wearing through the protruding lip (part of the duct; not the arch liner) underneath the gaffa in this pic:

There is also some light outer arch rub under compression where the liner meets the wing, but this is quite common for lowered, spaced 8.5J fronts. Loads of room around the rears.

I reckon the perfect setup is probably 245/35 and 265/35.

Same area of the front wheel arch as above, but after a cheeky round trip to Cornwall!

Lots of plastic there, so no immediate danger of it rubbing through, but I'm wondering now if lowering the front suspension a little might help. Looks like the wear is at the same height as the front axle and below the wheel well's widest point.
