No, not really, the arch lips are only really there as an aesthetic add-on. They're not needed, but the 9.5 width wheel, et33 does push them out to what I consider to be the furthest point. They don't extend beyond the arch line, catch or rub, but I was looking to create an OEM+ look and reasoned that had BMW fitted wheels this size as standard, they might have gone for the sort of solution to meeting EU regs that other manufacturers had employed. Audi, with the TT Sport, Lotus with the Elise 190 and Jaguar with the XK8-R all fitted arch lips, so I thought I'd try some.DanEvs wrote:They look ace but the fact he's added a mudflap halfway up the rear quarter tells a story...mr wilks wrote:Struggling to think of a better stanced Si E85 or E86 with 19inch CSL reps on Eibach's than our own Z4pilots
The fronts are always going to be a squeeze at 8.5s & 40ish offset though
Pictured without the arch extensions;
If you end up choosing 18 inch wheels, my personal opinion is that there are better looking wheels than CSL reps - the whole point of the CSL look is the rear dish and you won't get it with 18's and higher offset numbers. Try looking at Jamie_Z4's posts - he's had more wheels on his coupe than most have had hot dinners. BBS-CH's look good in 18's and don't appear to be undersized.
