Can someone explain to me why people wet their pants over CSL wheels? They are OK, but I just don't get why people get so excited over them?

I like the CSLs a lot but wouldn't pay the big premium for them over the also very nice stock 224

In my opinion, they look great on Z4's, but they need to have concave rears and in my experience, 19'' wheels on Z4's just destroy the ride.

I'd rather not compromise on that, if I'm honest.

You can negate that Ben if stock suspension by running a 40 front & 35 rear tyre , by doing that i haven't noticed any ride deterioration from going 18 to 19 on the current Si

I am a committed non-modder, but if I wanted to do anything to mine and I had the cash, then I would get CSLs. I think that they really complement Zeds, roadsters and coupes.

I think it's because of the way they smell. Seriously, next time you see a set, have a sniff.

Everyone on here says 'they're too common' and 'done to death', which maybe they are amongst enthusiasts who go to meets etc but I've had my Z4 for 18 months now and I've never seen another roadster with CSLs.

Csl's maybe done to death in your opinion. Still the best looking wheels for certain BMW's imo & many more, love them still classy looking.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder they say. Personalty I think the CSL's look great. 8) As good as the 224's in fact. I'd happily swap them over. Would n't pay any more for a set though. Aren't they a bit lighter too?

CSL wheels? I don't get it!

I had the CSL wheels on my E92 M3 as part of the Competition package. They look fantastic, but when I bought my Z4 Coupe some weeks ago, I had the choice to buy a new set of 19" CSL replica with new Kuhmo tyres. While it gave the Z4 an aggressive look, and really suited it, I did not go for it, as the front 8.5" wheels with 235 tyres had a stretched look, with the leading edge of the wheels protruding a good 1/2 cm, and the ride was quite harsh.

In the end I went for a new set of 224 with Goodyear Asymmetric 3, and really like the way they fit on the non M. If the CSL replicas had been a perfect fit with a better brand of tyres, would probably have gone for them.
