My coupe (stratus grey) is currently fitted with 17" turbine (201 style) as its an SE ( although now fitted with suplex m-sport equivalent springs and Bilstein dampers).
I do like these wheels and they're probably dynamically better than 18s' ( lighter on its feet!) but I quite fancy a change and have seen some 18" MV3 for sale that I like the look of.
Will the MV3 fit the coupe ok with no rubbing? Are they an ok wheel or are they more prone to cracking/weaker etc??
Also, they come with 255/35 rear tyres but am I right in thinking that 245/35 seem to be a better option as I think that's been recommended before??

MV3???
They will fit fine & actually better offsets than Mv2s , 107 , 108s etc so fill the arches nice
Rear tyre 245 40 ideal (imo ) but 255 35 would be the factory fitted tyre

MV3???
Thank you for your reply Mr Wilks.
Why do you recommend 245/40 over 255/35?
I think I've seen somewhere that 245 is "optimum" for 8.5j and 255 not so much? And 40 profile for more comfort??
I have seen a set fully refurbished ( seems a quality refurb) in ferric grey ( BMW colour) for £600 or near offer- is that about right??

MV3???
I have MV3s on my roadster and they fit fine. Fronts are 8j/et34 and rears 8.5j/et37 so sit nice and flush with the bodywork without the need for spacers. I'm running Avon ZZ5s with 225/40 front and 255/35 rear with no issues. I bought my set refurb'd and powder coated gloss black for £500 back in March '15 so £600 sounds reasonable to me.

MV3???
I am still looking for a decent set of MV3 but, I have read that the genuine BMW alloys are easily damaged and they even made an appearance on Watchdog!
Are rep wheels a better bet then, for the MV3?
I have seen some nice wheels in Ferric grey that I like but as my coupe is in stratus grey, I think too much grey would be going on ? What do you think?
Maybe Hyper silver better or just plain silver??

I think your worrying unnecessarily about the durability of genuine MV3s. Mine are genuine BMW MV3s manufactured in 2006 and refurbished and fitted to my Zed in March 2015. I've driven almost 15,000miles on them with absolutely no issues whatsoever. I am careful with them in that I try hard to avoid any potholes and have never kerbed them either. Also, remember these alloys were originally fitted on E90 3 series models which are heavier cars than the Z4. Personally I wouldn't consider replicas over genuine BMW ones.highway1 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2017 9:17 pm I am still looking for a decent set of MV3 but, I have read that the genuine BMW alloys are easily damaged and they even made an appearance on Watchdog!

Regarding the colour, I nearly went for graphite grey but my wife said "Grey car, grey hardtop AND grey wheels ? Don't you think that's too much grey ?" So I went for gloss black ! PITA to keep clean and shiny but I really like them and don't regret my choice. I do like the ferric grey and think they would look good in hyper silver or sparkle silver on you car. Maybe a bit ordinary in plain OEM silver though. Decisions, decisions eh ?
