I was wondering as bike gear is pretty good at protecting you nowadaysSmartbear wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2017 9:12 pmHi, I've got thousands of pounds worth of biking gear so I was wearing trainers of course!Nictrix wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2017 8:33 pmSorry to hear about your misfortune but had to laugh when I read you pushed the bike home. Its funny how your p&j must be sorted first.
The last bike accident I had I rode home with cracked ribs, a ripped almost detached thigh muscle and bruising to the bone in my knee along with the usual pains of landing on tarmac.
The handle bars were bent and twisted, indicators gone, lever snapped but made it the 12 miles home and parked up before visiting the hospital.
What kind of boots were you wearing?

Don't take this the wrong way Rob, and I can't explain why, but that's gotta be the funniest pic I've seen on the Forum

I don't think they would have made much difference to be honest, I would have needed steel toe caps to have escaped this one!Nictrix wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2017 9:22 pmI was wondering as bike gear is pretty good at protecting you nowadaysSmartbear wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2017 9:12 pmHi, I've got thousands of pounds worth of biking gear so I was wearing trainers of course!Nictrix wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2017 8:33 pm

It's just cos I'm used to pics of you in your Zed or your Elise or your Train or in your Garden or your in House, not in a hospital bed. It just looks so incongruent: Rob in a hospital bed - apologies

I can't even process this.

Clearly neither could I. I felt that I'd hit the tank but had no idea what it had done. In the following hours the pain arrived and the whole thing looked like a black grapefruit.
Bikes are dangerous but so much fun.
PS: I feel your pain on the nail front too, I've had a big one fall off from a blister before and had ingrowing toe nail surgery twice. Make sure you keep it well trimmed and shaped as it comes back as it tends to be not as neat.

Hi, surprisingly I didn't get much pain from the damaged nail-it's the shattered big toe bone & burst toe that really bought tears to my eyes.Steve84N wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2017 3:52 am Clearly neither could I. After my surgery last night 90% of the pain & stinging has gone.
I'm really pleased with the improvement and can't wait to get home, bit of a she I was kept in overnight as its Mrs Bears Birthday today

Have you been told if it's likely to be a 100% recovery or could there be residual symptoms?

I'm not even going to try.
Rob
Great to here the pain is far less following surgery.
You'll have to bake Mrs Bear a cake and then help her eat it.

It's a very elaborate plan just to avoid 'flowers and dinner'. Hope your poor 'paw' gets well soon
