Well they've only ever asked me about convictions, and seeing as attending a course isn't a conviction I can't see any reason to tell them!

speed awareness course
I’ve got my first next week and no plans to tell my insurance company- I feel I’ve paid the extra insurance premium by paying for the course.
I also think I’ll be one of those people everybody hates when they go on these things. There’s alway one gobby shite in the corner who has an answer for everything...hate that guy!!!

As my Dad was running the AAA Road services I got special pricing so I did an Advanced Defensive Driving course years ago, I was the only person in the room who took the course to be a better driver, the rest were taking points off ..... Did the Defensive Driving course as a pre- req for the ADD course, same thing , people trying to get licenses back. So why do I drive the cars I do? Coz they go fast..... doesn’t seem to add up , must be quantum physics at work.

The advice given regarding insurance is to answer their questions.
Have you got points? No
If they ask have you been on a speed awareness course, then you have to say yes. If they do not ask, there is no reason to tell them.
I checked online before anyway and they were not interested.

Debatable though as if it is part of the insurance companies T&Cs, you are entering a contract without providing the "correct" details, providing a "get out" clause for the policy (third party they can never get out of, but they can try to get the costs back from you).
I don't buy into the statistics raping of selective data sets. It is easy to bend any statistics to provide a result you want.

All that matters is the number of points on your license.....

That's why you really need to read all the Ts & Cs. But if they draft the contract it is up to them to make sure they ask the right questions - if not the legal doctrine of "contra proferentum" applies (in simple terms if the party that drafts the contract leaves any ambiguity then any judgement on that issue will go against them).pvr wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2017 10:45 pmDebatable though as if it is part of the insurance companies T&Cs, you are entering a contract without providing the "correct" details, providing a "get out" clause for the policy (third party they can never get out of, but they can try to get the costs back from you).
Oh dear, I must have spent too many years spent handling insurance claims.
