Or leave them in the microwave (it's a Faraday cage) - best shield you can get apparently

I would if I had a microwave and if I did unsure I could carry that around with me

I too was going to buy a special wallet to keep mine in but after doing some online research about it apparently just keeping them in a tin with a tight fitting lid is just as effective https://makezine.com/2015/08/14/block-c ... aday-cage/

I guess you could also wrap the keyfob in tin foil, I'v ordered 2 faraday pouchs off Amazon, they're ony 6 quid each a bit more portable.

One of my customers M5 went the same way last week. Insurance have paid out.

I assume they need to keep the car running, once they have it away from the keys.

For the sake of a few quid has to be worth it after seeing that video and how easy it is to get into the car.

I guess they keep the car running long enough to get it to a workshop to be dismantled for parts.

Wire in a hidden kill switch, or use a steering lock. Yes, both can be found and/or circumvented eventually, but unless the thieves NEED to steal your car, you would hope they would move on to a softer target? Just a shame that these vehicles have state of the art anti-theft security built in, but it can be so easily circumvented.
Or just go back to the 'old days' of having to press a button on the keyfob to unlock the vehicle...

the problem with blocking it.. is what if they really want your car? they'll come hammers blazing in your house.

I'd rather not have that.

The main reason for not ordering it with any of my cars. Too easy to bypass and it seems that most thefts are cars that have that option. I don't see the benefit, my son's 140 has it and he still has to put the key somewhere (usually in the centre cup holder or so), so what is the benefit really.

The benefit is that the fob stays in your pocket (or for ladies in their handbag) so there's no need to fish it out and press a button to enter the car - just walk up, pull on the door handle, get in, press the start button and drive off. We have this on our Z4 and another car and it's particularly appreciated by the Mrs.
