Christ that was one expensive fill up, I think I would have ventured off the A1 to find somewhere a bit cheaper. Hope you had a good drive back home mate :driving:
Cheers Nick

Drive back was interesting, schedule was thrown right out of kilter by the wheelchair. It wouldn't fit in the boot ! No matter what way it was offered up it would not fit! I'd tried it in DumfriesDik's Z4 and it fitted.........just! It soon became evident that Diks Z4 being a facelift model, there is a difference in the boot size/shape! After an hour and 15 minutes of trying and removing parts we finally got on the way with the wheelchair chassis on my knees. Good job I have no feeling in my legs!

Drive back was now into teatime traffic, which wasn't too bad, but our notion of a leisurely drive back with a meal stop, was thrown right out the window!
Was a wee bit frustrating though cause my mate who was driving isn't very motor savvy, I kept probing him for his thoughts on the drive all I'd get was "yeah it's alright" :poke:

I’m from Mansfield, can’t recall seeing many about.
Was it a forum member selling?
No
The guy selling it was a young bloke who'd been involved in a motorcycle accident some years ago and was unable to work as a consequence. He didn't even know about the forum, as that's the first thing I asked him. :D

I only put Shell V Power in my cars out of personal choice. I've seen a wide fluctuation in prices for it even in local garages not on motorways. At the moment the price per litre seems to range from about £1.26 to £1.36. Consequently one of them is getting a lot of my business and others virtually none of it!

Same issue as always of supply and demand.
My late father used to complain of the same in the 60’s about fuel and food at service stations but did accept that when a foot deep in snow on New Year’s Eve the fuel and cooked food were still the same price and better than a night on the hard shoulder..

They key is to not fill up all the way. Just put in enough fuel to get you where you need to be.

I have this problem every time we drive to Scotland and back. Unfortunately a Fiesta ST fuel tank is about 5 litres too small to make the 420 mile journey on one tank :(

I just chuck in 10 litres extra at a random service station, so as not to get majorly ripped off.

I was caught out on the M6 on Sat and was stung for £1 48.9 pence per litre for V-power. Just put £10 in and the needle hardly moved :(

I think it's a bit like stealerships. Their prices are where they are as company car drivers just drop them in for work to be done through the lease firm. Same with the petrol stations - stop, fill up, put it on the fuel card as I don't care about the cost?!
Am I off the mark?

The sat nav can show you where the nearest petrol stations are and there is usually one just off the motorway charging considerably less.
