Modern life boiling your piss...

Post by Zed Five » Fri Dec 15, 2017 9:11 pm

When did thick people suddenly think that 'you' is short for 'yourself'?

E.g. 'could I speak to yourself?' Or, 'could I meet up later with yourself?' Or even the classic, 'could you speak with myself later?'

Grrr, it makes no f#$&ing sense!

I can have a word with myself, you could have word yourself, You can have a word with me and I can have a word with you.

I believe that people think that it makes them sound more intelligent. However, it is like 'authority speak'

... and it makes people sound truly thick. :headbang:
Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

For me it's a similar frustration with improper use of ellipses and apostrophes in writing. I try not to let it bother... myself :P

Sorry, couldn't resist :P

A guy at work always says 'is there any more questions you have for me' and it gets me every time.

Or people who put the word 'to' at the end of a sentence for no reason whatsoever.
Where are you to? Where is he to? :headbang:

:D

We've got one of those - he says: 'them ones' so for example he'd say:

We've got one of them ones

also uses 'give' instead of 'gave':

We give them those ones yesterday

Being a relative of Victor Meldrew and about the same age it is the word ‘like’ included in a sentence for no sensible reason which drives me mad.
It, like, makes me furious.

‘It’s like, great’....with you on that. So is it similar to great but not quite?

‘Off of’ and ‘for free’ bug me.

I used to get confused with the spelling of ‘of’ and ‘off’ until I saw some graffiti on a wall that suggested I ‘f#@k off’, and it stuck with me ever since. True story.
