Nerdy! Nerdy! Telescope Thread
Since I've moved out to BFE. I can see the stars pretty clearly at night. So I've been wondering. What decent telescopes are out there? Also are there any out there where I can hook up a DSLR to take pics with?

Any telescope that can accomodate a camera can be used with a DSLR (or should be), can't think of any reason for them not to.561design wrote:Since I've moved out to BFE. Canon made some 20Da SLRs - note the 'a'. This had live preview and different Infra Red filter than a standard 20D. Digital sensors are extremely sensitive to the IR wavelength and quiet well suited to taking these types of pictures. The setup for a telescope though will cost big bucks. You need some sort of motorised unit to track the movement. I'd imagine this is very expensive.sp3ctre wrote:*bump*
Sorry, I usually don't like to bump topics, just thouht we might get this back on track and get this guy his answer.
I have no clue i'm afraid... would be interested to know thought, the DSLR hookup sounds interesting too.

Meade and Celestron makes a variety of good entry level scopes. I have a 5" Meade reflector, and I'd love to convince my wife to upgrade to a slick 11" Schmidt-Cassegrain with GPS/computerized mount. Both Meade and Celestron also make T-adapters you would need to mount a camera and various other camera mounts.
