So this guy buys our stuff from eBay, advertised as collection only.

I'll call him "Ross".

He then decides he can't collect. So we have the hassle of sorting courier for him.

It takes him over 6 days, many phone calls (which were responded to very rudely) for him to actually PAY for the item.

A further 8 days later (and a whole 14 days after winning the auction) he calls to say the device isn't working. When my wife asked him for some more information about the problem, he just tells her that he'll lodge a complaint through PayPal and tells her to f**k off.

Unbelievable. This idiot boils my pi55.

.... and breathe.

Let me guess, he lodges a complaint with Paypal, Paypal credit him his money back, he keeps the 'faulty' item for free, and you are out of pocket?
Is this how it works? :x

I was beginning to think so, but looking further into it, the guy doesn't really have a leg to stand on. As we're a private seller the distance selling regs & "fit for purpose" doesn't apply legally (info direct from eBay). Plus it's been over 2 weeks since the auction ended, over a week since the delivery (proof available) and so it's entirely possible that he's broken it or it got damaged in transit. It was insured for the full amount, so *could* tell him that I suppose.

But then, I actually don't think it's broken. It's a printer & I updated the firmware a while back (more features etc) and I genuinely don't think he has the right drivers installed (they're pretty version-sensitive).

His problem is his arrogance & rudeness. Wife was about to start helping him diagnose the problem when he became all abusive & sweary. So I'm now not inclined to help him at all. :)

**Update** The guys requested a return through eBay.

So best case scenario, you'll get the printer back (in God knows what condition), you'll find there's nothing wrong with it (probably drivers as you mentioned), and you'll still get negative feedback.
I feel for you, and hate selling stuff on online auction sites now. I have a bunch of things gathering dust I just can't be bothered with the potential hassle, but I suppose I'll have to man up sooner or later and get them sold.
Good luck, I hope it doesn't work out as badly as I put in my first sentence... :(

Thanks enzed, me too. Honestly, if he'd been a nice guy I'd have taken it on the chin and tried to get the postal insurance to pay out. But, damn it, he's a nasty piece of work, so we're putting up a fight. Could do without the stress though :/

If it was postal insurance, it would have to be showing as damaged I would have thought? I get the impression that he just can't get it to work.

Test print from the printer without using any drivers should be possible though.

It's a Dye Sub Printer, so a bit specialist. Never tried anything but the official drivers. It's had a firmware update many moons ago (obviously worked fine since & mentioned on the ebay ad) and I updated the driver on my laptop at the same time. I'm wondering if he's got an old driver and it's not playing nicely. He's saying it's "slow" to print and sometimes times out. It doesn't sound like a hardware fault, it sounds way more likely to be software.

Like I said, the guys a tool, he responded to my wifes offer of assistance by claiming he knew "everything" about these printers, told her to f**k off and put the phone down.

**Update on the eBay situation**

Finally got the printer back in our posession. The guy claimed (rather abusively) that the printer doesn't work & that he wasn't able to print anything. So I tested the printer and checked the maintenance stats.

1 - It does work, here's a video to prove it: https://youtu.be/IdgRaVdnjCM
2 - The printer stats show this guy has printed 1620 prints in the week he's had it.
3 - The printer stats show he never performed a cleaning operation (recommended every 600 prints)
4 - He's actually updated the firmware, thus changing the damn printer.

All of the above is provable. Needless to say we are now appealing against the eBay decision. Keep your fingers crossed that common sense prevails.

Does this moron think we're running a bl**dy charity here? :headbang:

Neighbours goddam fffing cats (x2) sleeping on the roof of the Zed. I now have a black roof covered in fur and snot/drool and claw marks and bits of claw and god knows what else the scruffy, mangy, flea ridden, parasite encrusted little sh1t bags have left on there. Oh yeah and one of the little f**kers is a Tom and it keeps "spraying" on the wheels and making the carport and the Zed stink to high hell !!!!!!!
Got a good mind to have the car properly all fessionally cleaned and dump him with the bill and tell him so long as his feline vermin keep messing up my car he'll keep getting bills for it being cleaned.

Aaaarrrrrggghhhhhh!!!!!!
