Excellent choice...Very nice ! Such a classy looking watch. I bought my Seamaster Titane Chronometer for my birthday back in 2000. It felt like a good excuse to commemorate the new Millennium and it's never been off my wrist since!

This is a bit strange but welcome any comments.
Woke up this morning to find a watch lying on the table in our back garden.
It is a Tag Aquaracer according to the logos and code on the rear case.
It has been well used and as you can see in the pics the 12 oclock marker is loose inside the glass.
The questions I have as it seems I am now the owner of this watch are:
Is it a genuine Tag or a copy?
Can the 12 oclock marker be fixed back in place without costing the earth?
Any ballpark figures on how much that would cost?

Fair enough, so it would then need to go to the police if they are interested or the local council.
I suppose I could look at it that the person who was on my property left me the watch as a gift.
I just have no idea who the person is to send a thankyou card.
I think I will stick it in the bin as why should I go out of my way to find someone who was on my property in the middle of the night with no invitation. He deserves to lose his watch, shame he didnt leave his wallet and car keys too.
I also became the "keeper" of a burgandy t shirt too also in a used condition.

Let the police know. They will probably be too busy/disinterested to do anything about it. If so, chuck it in a drawer for six months and then you can do what you want with it.

Hand it in to the Police station as a found item. At the very least you will get it back (I think after 3 months). Then take it to a watchmaker, get it fixed and serviced (don't think it will take much judging by your description of the faults) and you'll have a nice Aquamaster for little cost. If it's fake, the watchmaker will know as soon as they look at the movement. Looking at the detail of the caseback, it certainly looks either legit, or a very 'good' fake.
DON'T throw it in the rubbish, please. Or, if you want to, send it to me (I'll cover postage)

Call your local Police station and report that you have found it. Unless it matches up with a theft or burglary on their system they will let you keep it and if unclaimed after 8 weeks its yours. That was the procedure in West Yorkshire 10 years ago

If its classed as theft, would sending it to you not involve you in a crime?
Joking aside, I really dont think the police will have much luck finding the owner. Looking at prices and the condition of the watch and the fact it needs fixed would anybody actually notify the police that they had lost it? Especially if they remember that they were in someones garden in the middle of the night.
I will contact the police and see what they say. I would quite like to know who was in my garden and what excuse they would give the police. My garden is completely sealed off and access is through a 6ft high wooden gate, you wouldnt just stumble in by accident.
I went to bed around 1.30am and where the watch was found was around 12ft away from where I was sitting on the other side of french doors. It must have happened between then and 9am this morning.

Nictrix, If the digits are falling off I would say its 99% sure to be a fake/copy so wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

I had a fake Aqua-racer from a hoilday in Turkey(paid about £40) . It worked fine for about 3-4 years before it stopped but after only months, it was missing the day-glow bead above the 12 !!!

To find out pop it in the bath. It says 300m on it, but I doubt it will do 300mm if its fake !

No, I think Number5 means the luminous dot on the rotating bezel, not the index marker at 12 which is what has fallen off yours.
I'm not convinced its a fake, as the caseback engraving is very detailed, and deep. Fakes usually make a half-assed job of this. It's not uncommon for one of the indices to fall off on the dial if its had a hard life, and looking at the condition of the case and bezel, the one in your pictures does look 'well worn'. I would still get it serviced/repaired (once you have clear title) - it will probably clean up nicely, and make a good 'beater' watch with a backstory. It's not one of Tag's top of the line models, but it should be solidly built and worth keeping IMHO.

Fitted some new straps to my dailys this morning, Gulf racing to BOLDR chrono and Martini racing to Straton Curve chrono. Never really considered nato straps before but quite pleased how they change the look :)

Also pre-ordered this number some months ago for hopefully Sept/Oct delivery.

Cheers for that, I will see what the police have to say.
Funnily enough the police were at my door this morning looking for someone who gave my address as his, wonder if it is linked??

The back & the strap looks nothing like my Tag in terms of stamp  id say that was unlikely to be genuine
