CALAIS VIDEO

Post by dans6490 » Fri Nov 27, 2015 2:36 pm

A colleague at work just showed me this video. Some of what we make at work goes abroad and the lorry drivers are always saying how bad Calais is getting. This gives you an idea of what it's like to be a lorry driver passing through Calais. These topics always get a debate going.

All I would say is look at all the refugee families, women and children. :tumbleweed:

Oh and if you do watch it, turn the volume off as the driver has verbal diarrhoea

Yea saw it with my own eyes last month
Left Calais port around 3am & the first 6/10 miles they were all over the carriageways playing "frogger" between the cars doing 70mph ! Saw 70/100 with only a handful of marked Police vans who were doing nothing
The night after 2 were run down , nothing seems to be getting done & until the flyers get handed round that there will be no hand outs from now on they will keep trying for the land of milk & honey

I'm avoiding Calais for next years Classic Le Mans because of this situation, we've made a conscious decision to travel from Newhaven to Dieppe instead, how is Calais for car drivers Andy, is it threatening?

Well i was going to travel back that way but after seeing the situation going out i paid more ££ & took the longer crossing from Caen - Portsmouth back
Have you looked at Portsmouth - Le Havre with Brittany Ferries ? Better for the onward drive to Le Mans

this looks crazy, there is just no deterrent for them

they should be rounded up and taken 1000 miles away from the boarder and let loose, if nothing else it will takem them another week to get back to Calais

Wow, crazy.

Can't believe the truck driver drove directly at them (about 5min into the video). I'd be keeping my head down.

We were on the way back from Spa F1 this year stuck in a massive tunnel queue due to a trespasser. There were people everywhere.

One also opened our car door and started to get in before he got booted out.

He then went into the minibus in front of us and slid in the back door before the driver got out and booted him out. We all couldn't believe it!

Last crossing was in the X5 and I floored it coming out of Calais. It is like a war zone with them all over the place.

Think if you slow down you will be a target for the "swarms".

But what you can do when you are in a traffic jam I have no idea.

That was my biggest concern & didn't fancy risking it with a soft top . Needs sorting out one way or another & i have no sympathy whatsoever for those trying to get over
Stop the free handouts & hotels & you'l be a part way to stopping the flow
It's not a new problem created by ISIS , its been happening for 20 years & all we've ever had no matter what party rules is half hearted attempts & ideas at fixing it

I must be lucky , 6 to 8 crossings a year and I've never been bothered once , in fact the only time I got held up was when it was snowing in England about 5 years ago !

Whatever happened to the term "illegal immigrant"? From what I have seen these are all men and mainly young. Not destitute families fleeing terror. They all seem to have a dis-regard for authority and no respect for people.

Why aren't they being processed like other immigrants/refugees or whatever they claim to be? Surely, they would either be allowed in or shipped back to wherever home is?

As Mr Wilks says, decades of political rubbish has done very little. It's about time euro governments thought about the "human rights" of its citizens. It's clear that the softly softly approach isn't working. Our soft laws are just being taken advantage of and a tougher stance generally is long overdue.
