Wot I did today

Post by Paulr » Sat Nov 19, 2016 7:23 pm

The Smart Roadster forum had a 'what did you do to you car today' thread, mainly because you were always having to do something!

So I thought I would just do the same here, for no readily apparent reason other than it amuses me.

Today, I put sound deadening in the drivers side door, noticed at least 5 clips missing, and the lock rod retainer had also broken. Off to BMW to get some clips on Monday then! Door sounds better when closing it though, much less tinny. Took about an hour, and was pretty straightforward.

I might tackle the roof motor soon.

Anyone else do anything?

I cleaned my Z4 with Williams waterless car cleaner. Then it rained. Yesterday went to BMW dealer to pick up a small part. More like an airport lounge. No parts department but was told to take a seat while they brought the part. Was then offered refreshment. Eventually parts person arrived in a suit and handed me the part. Had to pay contactless as they did not accept cash. Miss the days of grubby part people in brown coats and even oil covered parts manuals.

Washed and vacuumed mine and stuck down properly the Velcro that now once again sticks to the carpet to hold the mat secure.

Also put another coat of paint on the headlamp washer cover (still not happy that it's not very shiny) and adjusted the driver's side windscreen wiper which was too far to the right.

it is, few bits and bobs, little bodywork and a few mechanical niggles. Better brightwork and maybe a new hood.

nippy little bugger too, fancy cam and exhaust, probably pushing out all of 80BHP

That Midget looks lovely, does it make tax exemption?

I need to do the other door with sound deadening, so I'll take pics then.

Oh, I also topped my tyres up. I mentioned somewhere here that the steering was rut finding, someone said chess know the tyres. New run flat tyres put on by previous owner and Nitro'd had 26 front and 30 rear. So I upped them to 34 and 36, see if that makes any difference.
