I see that Peugeot and Hyundai are now running TV ads telling people that they can now order their next new car online and have it delivered to their door. They also offer px and finance at the same time.
Looks like another nail in the coffins of the UK dealership network, and also possibly, a sneaky way of removing the "bartering" from a deal? Mind you, as they already have a lower base cost, could it mean cheaper prices for the end user?

I do this already, many leasing companies like me have been doing it for years. I suspect it will make little difference for a while though as buying patterns are pretty entrenched, but it will make dealers have to think a bit more about how they operate and how customers feel about visiting them.
