Insurance renewal
I know this is another insurance post but it's more of wanted to get it off my chest than advice.
My insurance was £860 fully comp stored in locked underground car park 5k miles a year only used for social as work is 1 mile from home. 36 years old 7 years no claims. No points on licence no crashes or accidents.
This was already a little pricey but for the same details apart from an extra year on my age and no claims they have increased my insurance to £1350. Ivery called them and they said there's an increase in premiums this year. Sure but over £500?? They lowered it to £1130 after lots of complaining from me and they said it's the absolute best they could do but its still high.
So I decided to start looking again the cheapest I've found is £909. Which coincidentally is with the same company I'm already with.
These insurance companies are just trying to milk everyone for no reason at all. These companies should be regulated. It's daylight robbery.

Ouch!
That seems a ridiculous amount, do you live in a HIGH crime rate area!? I pay just over a 3rd of that amount through Admiral as part of a multi car policy . Only just ticked over 40yr old, but have paid similar amounts for the past 2 years. Might be worth a call.

I search on the Meercats each year. Pay £200 fully comp, 8k miles per year social and commuting. That said I am on the right side (for insurance purposes!) of 60 years old.

Holy crap!
I would say it is maybe due to area..?
I'm 24 driving an 3.0si coupe, do 20,000 miles a year and have 7 years no claims.
My premium was £580 last year.. So sounds like I'm in for a shock this year!

May sound counterintuitive, but have you tried upping the declared miles and maybe add commuting?
5k is pretty low, maybe they associate with a weekend hooner/track demon and therefore more risk?

Last year i paid £329 and that covered 12000 miles and fully comp on any vehicle.
Renew came this year and i paid £465 for the same and no luck fining it cheaper anywhere. I even have a client who owns a insurance broker and he couldn't beat £501. and he said that was with him taking no commission.
Crazy how prices are going up!!
Thats a 2.0i, 5 years NCB and 29

I had some crazy quotes £800+, the cheapest was performance direct at £335, I then called Adrian Flux and got fully comp with commuting for £310 (limited to 4000 miles as weekend car only). I'm well into the 2nd half of my 30s and had zero no claims as that's in use on another car. Our normal insurance is an Admiral multicar policy, they wanted well over £500 to add the Zed.
Give Adrian Flux a try.

OP, you could also try Chris Knott Insurance as they are Z4Forum approved.
I know some haven't had a great experience with them, but they found me a good deal last year!
Hope you can find a sensible quote.

I have tried CK. They required me to have at least 6 months with a zed or equivalent before offering me a quote. Purchased it last DecMr Tidy wrote:OP, you could also try Chris Knott Insurance as they are Z4Forum approved.

That sounds rediculous . I am 22 and pay £750. 12000 miles per year, no claims or points. I am with Aviva but will shop around next year as I'm planning some modifications. I'm assuming your car isn't modified?
