Thank you ,
I do still have it , there's a couple of people tried to buy it from me but the tax implications and the fact I get to spend 3 months a year there stop me selling it . I always drive down but the missus flies in from Liverpool to Bergerac , both are less than an hour from either house .
The plot was negotiated into the deal when I bought the house next door , it was basically worthless , about 5k , due to the steepness of it and the stone on it . I tipped about a hundred tons of stone off the site up the road at another building site and used the rest to build the stone facade on the house and terrace wall , I can almost remember dressing every stone with a brick hammer to fit the one I'd just laid :headbang: almost literally

France is really nice. Ive spent quite a few weeks helping my friend renovate a property in the loire...the fresh bread every day...nothing rushed...really nice. That stonework was worth the hard graft

Planning permission runs out on Thursday so we had to make a start yesterday and break ground. Building inspector is calling monday morning to approve the footings. I hope it passes as the machine has gone back now and I don't fancy shovelling in that clay
