Post by Buckz » Sun Apr 02, 2017 6:45 pm

Hi!

Just wondering, I only recently moved to south london and I struggle to find any fun/nsl country lanes around surrey that are not packed with cars on sunday/saturday!

anything you guys can recommend? I went down to newlands corner, the views are nice but roads were very meh!

maybe I'm just not making the right turns? :)

Surrey driving roads?

Sadly I don't think there are any "right turns" any more OP. :x

Surrey has some great roads, but nearly all of the interesting ones have cameras and/or are over-loaded with traffic. :x

A24 between Leatherhead and Dorking used to be fun, but now it mostly has only one lane and hatched bits plus cameras so it is pretty pointless!

If you need to get some leptons on the A3 Southbound after the Ace of Spades underpass has no cameras (yet) but the Northbound side has just got 50 mph average cameras that start before you reach the Ace of Spades. (Probably to save the cost of parking the van after the static camera)!

M25 downhill from J8 used to be my "test route", but it has gantries now so presumably just points in waiting!

Good luck with finding a decent road without cameras.

There is plenty of good roads about in the Surrey area, but you will have to be on them early to avoid cyclists and other cars.

That's what I've been saying lately... Not fun! Time to move to Wales hehe. I'm sure there are some good ones left but I'm yet to find any.

Surrey driving roads?

Leave Surrey down the M3, come off at Basingstoke J6, then take the A339 to Alton, A31 South 1 junction, and the A32 down to Wickham. Meon Valley route.

No cameras, rarely see any police, but a couple of villages that you will need to slow down through.

That's my old commute to work! :D

The Meon valley road used to be my commute. Good road but now gets packed with loony bikers. They congregate at the, what used to be a little chef, at the A272 junction. If you are going south turning west on the A272 can be an alternate not too bad route.
The best roads I know of are in California. Route 1 the coastal road and some of the canyon roads running inland. They go on for miles, fantastic compared with the 5 maybe 10 miles of decent road here in UK. So move further west than Wales.

Great roads (what a brilliant commute), but a bit out of Surrey - you enter Hampshire just after J4 on the M3!

I know it isn't that far from Surrey, but the OP is in South London so it's a bit of a trek for him (especially with the M3 J2 to J4A misery).
