Can anyone recommend a good, cheap Dash Cam ? I don't want to pay GoPro prices and it must be easily swap-able between my car and van.

Hi Greg ..
I have a small wedge shaped cam fits great behind the mirror , I can't see it from the drivers side of the car Have a look at the Sony exmor.
Great little cams not to expensive , they come with two mounting pads so can be easy taken from one car to another and have a cig lighter plug .
I hard wired mine and now I can forget it as it turns on and off with the car

I use a nextbase 212 in both of our cars. They come with a magnetic base so can leave the base in the car and just remove the camera. If you got two bases you could easily swap the camera over between them. May be worth a look as they often come up cheap on ebay the second one i had was 35quid delivered on there.

I've spent the past week looking at dash cams, the Nextbase 512g gets about the best reviews for the money and has a decent lens with a polarising filter, I nearly went for it but felt its slightly too large/baulky so have gone for a Transcend DrivePro 220 from Amazon for 130 quid and ordered an additional mounting bracket and power adapter for the other car. I don't think its the best but I find the difficulty is getting a decent size smallish cam combined with good quality recording.

I've bought a fair few cheaper end of the market dash cams when I mean cheaper less than 100 quid and would say they are a complete waste of money as I've found they tend to underexpose and unable to cope with bright light conditions and the lens quality tends to be poor so are not capable of capturing reg plates which is what you need in the event of an accident.

Cam has arrived today so will fit it tomorrow and see how it fares.

I've got a nextbase 402g in my Zed. It has recently proved its worth after my Zed was written off by a careless driver turning into me.
