New speeding rules next week, don't forget....
I was caught by a mobile camera on an unfamiliar stretch of dual carriageway (with a central reservation) doing 59 in a 50. I missed the speed limit sign and thought it was a 70. I saw the camera and thought I was well under. Camera was placed simply to collect revenue I reckon. Got offered a SAC - took it and kept a clean licence. Wont get that option again for 3 years.

Likewise, mine was 84 on a motorway, and although cop wrote BOTH the wrong motorway, and offence code (exceed 60 on dual c/way) my solicitor advised me to take the SAC, as if it went to court and I had a mag that sided with the plod, I could be looking at £500 and 3 points. Pi$$ed me off no end, as at the end of the day, my argument was that, if he couldn't get the basics right, how could he be relied upon to have operated the VASCAR correctly?Marlon wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2017 9:40 pm I was caught by a mobile camera on an unfamiliar stretch of dual carriageway (with a central reservation) doing 59 in a 50. Enroute to and from our shop via the A580 (East Lancashire Rd) there are regularly camera vans placed at the bottom of downhill sections of the 60mph dual carriageway, placed so that it catches people as they come over the crest... Tell me that's not about £££ and if there is something on at Haydock or Aintree Races, there are always more of them, catching unwitting visitors coming to those places to spend money Grrrr...
Mike

You know, this will probably irritate the living sh!te out of all of the 'enthusiastic' drivers amongst you but since i adopted my own 'why drive like a dick' philosophy years ago I've never had to worry about speeding and associated fines.
If you stick to the limit or below then you have absolutely nothing to worry about!
Get yourself a cheap trackday bruiser for fulfilling speedy shennanigans and you'll rapidly find yourself not needing to floor it on the public roads!
Am i talkin sh!te here?

Probably not, but I may not be alone in just not having the necessary willpower!Chris_D wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2017 9:51 pmYou know, this will probably irritate the living sh!te out of all of the 'enthusiastic' drivers amongst you but since i adopted my own 'why drive like a dick' philosophy years ago I've never had to worry about speeding and associated fines.

Cruise control has saved me lots of cash. I use it all the time, even in town when near school districts.

Don't worry... They will change it all back once they realise it's not as lucrative, not enough people work.
