Mileage - How Low for the Year

Post by Boris » Sat Jun 03, 2017 8:38 am

I thought the Z4 I had just bought was very low for the year, (57k on a Jan 05 car).

But as this morning was a lovely sunny morning and it was my turn to do a Saturday morning at work so I took the Z into work but called off at Tesco first to collect something, parked next to me was a 2004 Merc SLK, it was in a deep burgundy metallic red and looked fantastic.

The driver was in the car and he clearly saw me admiring the car and we started to chat, him saying how the soft top Z4's were much better looking than the hard top convertibles. :D

Things got onto mileage.......his 2004 had done 6,000 miles; what a waste, it did look good in fact it looked like it had just driven out of the showroom but I think I would rather be driving it!

So the Merc has averaged about 460 miles a year, mine has averaged about 4,475 a year, what about yours?

So according to the poll Marlon very kindly pointed me to, it looks like most Z drivers do very low mileage are they mainly all just Sunday and sunny day cars :driving:

The rate my wife is clocking up the miles on ours means its not going to remain that low for long

Mine is a weekend car , I have a company car and fuel card for the week ,it is only a ten mile commute but still be silly to use the Z when it's all free during the week . I tend to walk to the shops and local stuff ...So my Z maybe manages about 2000 miles a year .

Somehow the way the good lady is using the motor at present, the average on ours will be rising very quickly

I still can't get her to leave it at home if its raining.
