No, I've volunteered to go & have been waiting for a while to find out if I can hang up my overalls-it shouldn't be much longer now

Any other plans for work Rob?
Nope, will be a professional car cleaner & gardener if things slot into place as I'm hoping :P

We're heading to Consett from West Yorkshire so any tips greatly appreciated! :)
Mmmm Consett, not exactly the prettiest of places in the North East, its an ex Steel Making town, huge in its time.

The direct route is via the A1 but I would avoid that.

If you are looking for an indirect route Maybe head towards Harrogate into Ripon, then Leyburn and Reeth, up to Keld (one of my all time favorite places beautiful at the right time of day) across to Kirkby Stephen, up tp Brough and across country to Middleton in Teasdale Via B6276, back up to Langdon Beck across to Daddry Shield back down to Wolsingham onto Tow Law then up the A68 off at the A682 to Consett.

A winding route but a nice drive and it will show you the varying countryside of the NE.

You are not far from Blanchland if you are staying in Consett, one of our favourite places to eat is a really old pub there called the Lord Crew Arms
http://www.lordcrewearmsblanchland.co.uk/

You will need to book early if you want to eat there maybe even before you go away it fills up very quickly.

The drive up I've given you will take a while but if you get a nice day it will be worth it.

I mean to say go up to Northumberland do the Castle driving route. http://www.coast-and-castles.co.uk/plan ... the-route/
Start at Lynemouth not Newcastle.

Cheers

Nev
Thanks for the route tips and place to eat. We'll defo get it booked early. It's our anniversary so that might be a good place to go for that meal. Cheers!
The Castles of Northumberland take some beating especially Bamburgh. I can highly recommend the Tree House restaurant at Alnwick castle too, lovely food. If you do head up that way Cragside House is well worth a look with some very good roads in the area.

Tour de France in August - with my cherished 35i.

Driving down to the south coast of France for few days, visiting friends and family along the way will have a stop in Paris - Lyon - Marseille then Montpelier. was planing to do the whole coast of Spain all the way to Portugal borders but that will have to wait.
