How long before they attempt it?

Post by john-e89 » Fri Jun 16, 2017 12:58 pm

An horrific thought and I truly hope it can't be done but how long before Isis trained or brain washed terrorists try to set fire to another tower block now it's fairly obvious the cladding is fuel?

Sorry to mention it but i bet the bastards are thinking of it. :(

Ditto.

Although I didn't think it was a terrorist attack target, but that an attempt at bomb-making had gone awry!

Sad isn't it that we all thought the same thing.

...and possibly why TM's security detail thought it would be a security risk to meet with residents. She's takin flak for how that looks however.
Damned if she doesn't and possibly blown to bits if she does... :?

What I thought was what would happen if they done 4 or 5 at the same time. With 200 firefighters reportedly at one tower block is there enough if there is another major fire elsewhere?

I must admit I had the same thought

And if "normal " people like us can imagine it from seeing this on the news, some radicalised terrorist won't be far behind, and if he is planning on killing himself anyway he's not going to be bothered about some crappy council flat.

Frightening sad times.

It's not known what caused the awful fire which an investigation will find out. I think it's just an awful tragedy that doesn't need wild guesses. Good to see the Queen and Prince William at the front line, not so good to see May turning her back on them and not being arsed, or too frightened, I find that disgusting. The local Council need to get their act together as there are a lot of angry people, I don't think their offices will stay up for long if they ignore their community.

except those blocks are 'generally' filled with sirian, afgan refugees and people of other nationalities, certainly in west london. On the whole very few 'Europeans', certainly not a 'useful' target I would have thought.

I can see the place from where I am, ain't pretty. :(

No the cause isn't known Tim but the point I'm making is the cladding is essentially fuel, once alight it went up very easily as we saw, so will some group of evil bastards capable of mass murder try to light another block, I'd put money on it they're thinking how to do it right now, and pick a target block to their liking.

Been watching the whole sorry episode very closely as ive been involved with installing many different cladding systems as a sub contractor on similar sized projects around , Manchester , Wigan , Leeds etc .
Interesting point discussed on Radio4 today that the certain cladding used is banned for use in Germany & only passed in US if on low rise buildings ?
The other point that is grating on me is the lynchmob mentality regarding the guy + his wife who were directors of the company who installed the product :( they would simply have quoted for the works as per the bill of quantities drawn up by the buildings owners in conjunction with their appointed architects . The same bill will have been offered to various other contractors , this guy just happened to be the cheapest total price ( with labour included ) i would suspect :?
Anyways its a tragic event that lessons should be learned from

Can't believe the difference between the panels they used, and the non-combustible "next one's up" is apparently £2 each, or just £5k which on a project that cost over £8 million is literally nothing...
