Recommend a crimping tool for RG59/BNC?

Post by Ducklakeview » Wed Jun 28, 2017 11:55 am

I know there are a few alarm/security installers on here, so thought I'd ask..

Will be (finally) installing the CCTV at home next week. Will be using RG59 shotgun cable, so will need to be fitting BNC connectors to the ends. Have the 3 piece connectors, but looking for a crimping tool. Bought one from Amazon last week, but it was CRAP - Centre pin crimp was loose, and connector just pulled out even after crimping the ferrule with the tool adjusted to max :x

This is the one I had, and returned..

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01 ... UTF8&psc=1

Don't want to spend stupid £, but need one that bloody works!

Recommend a crimping tool for RG59/BNC?

That's the industry standard type of tool we all use. but it also requires a little technique too.

Strip the outer layer back about the length of your thumb nail and then expose about 1cm of inner sleeve and screen, leaving only about 5mm of centre core.
Crimp the brass nipple on first, then slide the collar over.
Push on the main body until it clicks onto the nipple,
Slide the collar up over the inner sheath ensuring you have a decent amount of screen trapped between the two metal components. Then crimp it again and it should be solid.

Try using mini RG59. its about 1/6 the size of regular RG59 and much easier to pass through smaller drill holes

Along with this tool to strip the centre conductor and the outer braiding.

Which clamps these 'F' connectors.

I can send you a load of F connectors if you want?

That's the type I've been trying to find, only in BNC...
