Red Bull London Soapbox Race 2017

Post by jimbo1958 » Sat Jul 08, 2017 11:34 am

Finished building my car yesterday which is the Alexandra Palace entry into the 2017 London Redbull Soapbox Race to be held at Alexandra Palace this Sunday.
The car has a Sixties Hippy theme to tie-in with "The Love In" festival held at the Palace 50 years ago.
There's a 3 hour show covering the Soapbox Race on Dave Tv starting at 17.00 on Sunday.
This is the third year I've built our entry into the event that we have hosted every 2 years.
Fingers crossed for Sunday.

I'm sure a man of your talents could have made it look more like an e89 :poke:

Or are you planning on adding some flowers to the e89?

The plan was to pick up the Z4 from Cornwall and join the meet on the Sunday.

Unfortunately family issues in Cornwall meant I couldn't get a guarantee that I'd be able to get a lift from Plymouth (an hour away) to get the car.

In the end I messed up the planning of this and some work I'd promised to another client for Monday, so couldn't even manage to get there in the Alfa.

I wouldn't drive it...I know how it's been built. :D

One of our event Electricans drives it.......he's fearless as you can see in the video. He doesn't touch the brakes all the way down until he stops at the end.

Always love watching this, the height some of the soapboxes achieved on the jumps was amazing, you have to feel sorry with the amount of work goes into them and they disintegrate at the first jump

Looks like a lot,of fun.

I especially liked the adjustable camber feature on the car. :)
