Got a lump taken out of the screen on our 335 and was coerced into having it repaired £15 v £75 and it seemed like a good idea.
Three months later the repair stated to breakdown and now there's a sharp edge - so it wasn't such a good idea after all!
They will / have to use a BMW screen as the car has a proper HUD and Camera stuff and the dealers won't touch glass that doesn't show the BMW logo when they come to align the camera stuff.

Windscreen repair
The fella from Autowindscreens came to the house today and fitted a new BMW marked Pilkington screen. I know theres been many a discussion re BMW fit or sub contractors but I watched this fella fit the screen and he was poetry in motion !
I'm sure he will do as many in a day as the bmw fellas do in a month. The fella also told me he had personally won a national award.
The only downside is that the car now has to go to the main dealer for camera calibration.
