Removing wrap

Post by Nictrix » Wed Aug 30, 2017 8:12 pm

So the wrap that I put on the interior trim had been on for over 3 years and was starting to shrink and lift at a couple of places.
I decided to take it all back out and remove the wrap and decide what to do next with it.
Holy s**t, the wrap is a pain in the arse to remove with sticky residue left in places that is quite difficult to remove.
I would not like to try and remove this from a full car.

Assume you are applying heat to help remove.

I tried it with and without heat.
Heat seemed to actually make parts of it worse with the adhesive going gummy and sticking more to the trim.
I got it all off but I wouldnt like to bet on no damage being done if taking it off a nice painted surface.

what wrap did you use?? I've never had any residue left from things I've done before.

Removing wrap

Be very careful removing the wrap!!!

I have just stripped a small patch of paint off my bumper removing some 3M protector :x

Gentle heat and some neat fairly liquid seemed to get most of the sticky glue off, but its a real PITA

It was 3M carbon wrap.
