Thought I'd died and gone to heaven earlier..

Post by Ducklakeview » Thu Aug 31, 2017 10:40 pm

Went to do a roof job about 15 miles away for a dealer tonight, have done a few for him so don't mind travelling.

Anyway, he went home in the zed so I met him at his house. We then walked around the back where I could see the zed backed into the small barn, which I was expecting.

What I didn't expect was what was inside the barn...

Not one, but two immaculate lotus cortinas, a 1000 mile very early and original car, and one he bought to race last year. One of the VERY early mustangs, the initial launch 6 cyl, a 1500 mile early cortina (interior shots) and an unused C5!

They were all in amazing condition...

It's funny how Sinclair C5s have almost a cult status nowadays.

As Mr Tidy has stated, what can you do with that low mileage Cortina other than continuing to store it. Use it and it and you've lost it's uniqueness and most of the value.

He reckons he turned down £75k for it last year, after seeing it, I have no reason to doubt him!

Funny, but we had 4 cortinas, my dads 1967GT, my 1967GT, another 67GT for parts and my mums 70(?) lotus cortina. All well driven :D :D :D Not the same value as the find you made

All at the same time.....

Cars are meant for driving not looking at. :driving: let the poor thing breathe and do what it was meant for! Or save one for the resale and drive the other. 8)

Very fine things. Keep the photo's and create many happy memories by driving them until they are no more. Things are not meant to last forever, they are made for a purpose. Those fine thing were made for :driving:

Except for the C5. That should get a viking stile cremation, as soon as it can be arranged.

Exactly, but you don't buy one that pristine if you plan on using it (unless you like throwing cash away)!

If you want to use it, buy a cheaper one in the first place!

Some lovely cars there, as others have said it's a shame it's done such little miles but people enjoy things in different ways I guess.

Has the owned them from new OP?

He's had the low mileage Lotus for about 15 years, the other I think he said about 3.
