Why did Alpina not make a coupe?

Post by JAD » Thu Mar 02, 2017 5:37 pm

Always intrigued me as to why Alpina did not conduct their magic on the coupe as well as the roadster?

I appreciate that the roadster is the far better choice... :fuelfire:

Engine emissions - they canned the Roadster S in 2005, the same year they started production of the E86.

...it's purely coincidental that BMW stopped Alpina producing the RS just before they released the ///M...

I once saw a metallic green e86 wearing alpina alloys. It did look fab. Shame they never did one. Good project for someone.
Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

As said there was an emission compliant ///M to compete with. So they probably would not have sold many, even if given the engine. Would have made them Classics now of course.

I always wondered why they didn't do an E89 Aflpina too.

Sounds like marketing reasons to me - de-conflicting //M coupe sales

Would be nice to see a coupe with the plastic bits on though :fuelfire:
