G29 Z5

Post by Glyn » Tue Jan 19, 2016 10:37 am

Just seen these photos of the Z5 in camo:

Shame it's a soft top. It's making me lean more towards getting an E89 rather than waiting.

I saw this too, I think it could be a great car,
I like the fact they have gone back to the soft-top too less weight and a bigger boot = win win :)

It only mentions a 4 cylinder engine so I hope more engine options appear as it would be a shame to lose an inline 6.

The soft top isn't a deal breaker for me but I was pleased when the E89 came out that it had the folding hard top so this feels like a backwards step even if it is a bit lighter as a result.

I like the idea of a softop...the E89 roof down is too impracticle.

However the toyota 4cl engine would be questionable.... And with bigger more powerful
Engines may encrouach the Jag F type market (although cheaper) will be a tough market to crack.

Should have targetted at the MX-5 market and kept it smaller and cheaper.

There's some disguised pics of the z5 on piston heads in general gassing for anyone interested . It looks quite large to me but that could be the colour

Looks at first glance like one of those MGF things they tried to call a sports car.

I agree on the lame part. Honestly, I love Toyota but would hate to share a platform with them on a "sports car". Hard to envision. A large cheapening of the BMW label. Sorry, strikes me wrong.

You cant tell much from that, well disguised, looks like a mid 90's US barge.
Although the use of fabric roof could be an interesting development (or mean nothing at all)
Have BMW officially said it would be a Z5?! I'm pretty sure they haven't and it would make any sense in the current naming structure. Surely its a Z6 in its going bigger possibly leaving room under neath for a "new" Z4.
While we are on the subject, I'm quite surprised there has not been a modern Z8 to take on the Merc SL etc. Merc seems to make the big 2 seater sports car pay after all!

If it drives anything like the GT86 then it has to be a good thing surely.
