Oh I just thought I recalled seeing Lucys pics in a thread and she'd said 'my friend took some photos for me of the Z' etc. I may be wrong.

Also I doubt any pro's enter, I've only seen 1 pro photographer on here, ok I'd say I've seen a few images (the oil tower one and the warehouse type shot) that I'd qualify as pro quality. Often amatuers think a picture is great but a pro will tear it to bits. I'd recomend anyone who thinks there images are good use www.photosig.com for construcive critiques, helps you learn about things you might never even have noticed before.

I'd be interested to know too - just to see how my photos compare. I ain't pro - couldn't ever be with the cheapest of the cheap DSLRs and lenses - but I do add a cheeky watermark to my photos just for a bit of recognition

I took this with a £120 Canon 350D and a £60 lens, having good kit helps but its not essential to taking good photos.

I think that was a different thread quite a few months ago. The last ones I posted were a joint effort, I took some of them. I'm learning! :)

Ok.

As for a11y- that shoot with the power tower things is probably up there with the best I've ever seen on this forum. IMO some of the cropping could be better but apart from that its pretty much pro level to me.

Cheers

It's a 350d I have too with the 18-55 kit lens although I did splash out on a 55-250 (I think) lens with image stabalisation (and no, it wasn't cheap) for using for motorsport and MTBing action close-ups. As you say, it's not all about the kit...

Until I'm pulling in ANY ££££££ from photography, I'm never calling myself a pro...

(although I know you're intending that question at shabba :poke: )

But sort of related to making ££$$$ from photography, have any flickr users on the forum signed up to this: Getty Images tie-in with flickr users

Semi Pro ?? Very talented amateur?

I got raked going into some "Historical Buildings" in the UK years ago because I was using a medium format (6x7) Pentax.(That's a big camera that uses real film for all the youngsters on here   ) They insisted I pay a Pro fee to take pics.( I didn't pay 'coz I'm not a Pro. told em so as well, politely of course)

As mentioned before, it's not all in the kit (but it sure helps).

Not a pro by about 500 miles. I just do it as a hobby, done a couple of things for money but only to help pay for new kit.

Just I have an eye for spotting where an image can be improved, this of course goes for my own shots 100%!! Yes the comp is terrible, was just showing that the quality is nice, given the kit there cost sub £200.
