The black top on yours does look really good, especially from that angle

Just wondering why do you guys use a hardtop? The fabric roof is more than capable of coping with winter, then when you get a nice crisp dry winters day you can't drop the roof, seems a shame to me. I never considered a hardtop when I had both the E85's, in fact quite the opposite.
Not having a pop, just wondering.

I have a hoist John, so it's very quick on and off, and a 1 man operation. But I also like the look with the hardtop; makes the car look very different so its 2 cars in 1...
Other advantages - keeps the drains dry and reduces road noise. Also, I'm not happy with the idea of the fabric roof being exposed to heavy frosts and the occasional snowfall; I'm convinced that it can't be good for the roof longevity. Finally, have i said it looks good??
Here's an old pic of mine - I haven't put the hardtop on this year yet.

Bah Marlon - this thread will only make me more resentful that i just missed out on that lovely €800 minter of a hardtop not long ago!
Still intend to get one at some point as I like the look as well as the 'coupe' feel that it illicits.

Hi John, I have similar reasons to markeg regarding longevity of the soft top (I don't have a garage) - also mine is a DD and I feel its more secure in the works car parks over the dark winter months. I like the look and the feel of driving it too

Tooooooooooo early Marlon
Myself and Rob (Smartbear) are having a little trip oopt noorth to have our motors moved by Dave at the end of the month, but my HT won't be going on till at least December if not January if this mild weather holds out.
It does look good though and did the black grills go in at the same time ?

I wanted to add some desirable parts to my car, these will only be going in one direction price wise, so worth having IMO. I have it fitted at the moment but it comes off very easyjohn-e89 wrote:Just wondering why do you guys use a hardtop? In answer to your question about the black grills :
When did the black and red badges go on ? I haven't noticed them before.
I have to say you have my most favourite looking Z at the moment. Perhaps some aero side skirts just to finish it off ?
