WTB: 03-08 Z4 Steering Wheel Airbag

Hi Guys,

Firstly, I apologise that my first post on this forum is a WTB, but I'm really struggling to find one anywhere. These things are almost mythical!!

I'm looking for a Z4 Steering Wheel Airbag E85 E86, 2003-2008.

If anybody has one of these for sale, or can point me in the right direction to buy one, I would be extremely appreciative.

Thanks Danderton, a bit overkill indeed! I contacted this breaker about a week ago.

So far, I have spent hours searching eBay and other similar sites,
I have contacted breakers/junkyards in Europe and England,
and I have even tried a wholesalers of BMW airbag covers.

All this without even a sniff of luck!

Do you have to have one to pass an mot?

What about switching to an aftermarket wheel which doesn't have an airbag? Or is that not allowed?

I saw this discussion the other day on a different forum, and one of the conclusions would be that it would definitely fail an MOT on the fact the an Airbag light has to be shown turning on and off at ignition.

And also, having a bag-less wheel is not something I want. OEM all the way.

Just a suggestion, but if you cannot find this in the UK you may want to try the German ebay site direct (www.ebay.de). I often buy bits in this way but I lived in Germany for a couple of years so I am comfortable with the language. Take care that you are happy you know exactly what is listed, ask questions in English as most Germans speak reasonable English, or use google translate to check.

I have just looked and an E85 sport steering wheel is listed by a company with the ebay name of midea_agency that also has an optional airbag (price on enquiry-scroll down the many photos and you will come to pics of it) The German for steering wheel is Lenkrad and they use the English word airbag, so just type in BMW Z4 E85 Lenkrad airbag(or variations of) and you will see lots of wheels and a few airbags. If you don't find a suitable airbag you may want to ask a few of the companies (or breakers) who list steering wheels if they have an airbag that they've not listed.
