Standard brake calipers
As per title. Needing a couple of front brake calipers. Mine are binding a bit. I know new ones can be had for around £40 each, but I'm getting married in November and the other half reckons I've spent enough. So if anyone has a couple taking up space and you want rid of, get in touch please.

What size buddy? I have a set from a 2003 3.0i sitting in the garage doing nothing. Need painting as one is blue and one isn't Yours for the cost of posting if they're any good.

Does the 3.0 fit the 2.5?Worcester_spoon wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2017 6:38 pm What size buddy? I have a set from a 2003 3.0i sitting in the garage doing nothing. Need painting as one is blue and one isn't Yours for the cost of posting if they're any good.

OP, that's a bargain! I very much doubt you'll be able to find a set completely for free like Worcester_Spoon is offering. The cost of P&P seems like a small price to pay... IMO at least

No idea, although I'm sure someone on here will know the relative sizes and if it's a straight swap. If it's an upgrade in size, I have a set of used discs as well that have plenty of life left in them yet, assuming the upgraded diameter will work.Sgr74 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2017 12:01 amDoes the 3.0 fit the 2.5?Worcester_spoon wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2017 6:38 pm What size buddy? As far as I know the 2.0 & 2.2 & 2.5 came with 286mm fronts and 280mm rears. The 3.0 came with 300mm fronts and 294mm rears.
So yes, 3.0 will be a viable upgrade if you're only a 2.5 however if your half way there (new calipers, pads, discs) I'd go the whole hog and get e46 330 brakes which are 325mm. That being said everyone is different, but that's my preference.
(I'm speaking in terms of brake disc for differentiation purposes... obviously different disc size means the caliper themselves are also different if you see what I mean)

I've just bought grooved and drilled discs. That's when I noticed the piston was a bit corroded and very difficult to push back. Thanks anyway.kis wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2017 10:59 pm As far as I know the 2.0 & 2.2 & 2.5 came with 286mm fronts and 280mm rears. The 3.0 came with 300mm fronts and 294mm rears.

No worries bud. Add a bit of wheel bling behind the alloy spokes
New pads too I hope? I think it's good practice to replace pads with the disc? I do on mine...

Of course. Just ordered a calliper from eBay. Not told the wife-to-be. I'm sure she'll understand .....again.
