SOLD: E85 RARE D Moris Hardtop for sale - Penarth/Cardiff
I was originally going to sell this some time ago, but ended up leaving it on my Z for over a year during a move, but now the car has gone the top must follow! It's a D. Moris Z4 hardtop in Sapphire Black - bought a few years ago, and remained in situ on my car pretty much ever since (roof motor was knackered anyway:)).
Plus points
As close to looking like coupe as you'll get on an E85
You won't see anyone else with one
Massive rear window - loads more light and visibility in the cabin
Side windows
Bad points
Needs adjustment to avoid the boot lid - was ok on mine when bolted down low, previous owner needed to visit local indi
Thin scratch above window - I'll get a pic up ASAP - doesn't affect look of top
No boot lid stoppers OR adjustment spanner - think it needs a 21/22 spanner for the mounts
Odd velcro system keeping the mechanism hidden
Styling may or may not be to your tastes - it was to mine!
Word of advice - if you don't have a garage/ shed or any suitable storage then I wouldn't advise buying a hard top - you'll be inclined to keep it on the car permanently and since selling the car it's taken up about 50% of my spare room .
As I no longer have the car, would need someone to collect from Penarth, ideally in/on their own Z or a decent sized transit would probably suffice. Includes stand.
Looking for £750, offers considered.

These are vary rare! Not really to my taste, but I'm sure it will be to somebodies!! Price seems reasonable so I'm sure it will sell no problem, being black should help as it will suit most car colours

PM received, not QUITE acceptable, but appreciate the offer. Still up for grabs. As a *free* gift, the successful buyer can also have my perspex wind deflector - like one of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Z4-E85-WI ... SwQaJXRDlA - but with the Z4 and BMW logo etched into the plastic. Few scratches, but absolutely fine!
Or I can chuck it in the bin.
Either way.

If I had made up mind that I wanted a hard top then I'd be biting your hand off for this! I really like them. (For the avoidance of doubt I have no desire for my Roadster to look like a Coupe! ) On wet cold days I want a hardtop; on sunny cold days I want the roof off(and for the further avoidance of doubt I don't want an E89 either!)
However, whilst the Zed bank account is currently running a large surplus (famous last words) I have promised myself a wheel refurb, calliper painting, and new wheel badges. Only procrastinating because the logistics are rather complex as Mrs R and I invariably need both cars every day.

Yeah, tell me about it! I think if I'd had the Z stored in a garage and I could do a quick change whenever I would have been switching between them a lot more - not so easy in a second floor flat!
Good luck with the work needed - I say bite the bullet and do it NOW

Side note - I replaced my wheel badges with super cheap Chinese ones from ebay, expecting absolute horrors to turn up, but they weren't half bad (they're the ones in the pics). If you're a gambling man, it might be worth rolling the dice

I think it's a carbon/ kevlar construction, according to the original invoice (which I have lying around somewhere). I wouldn't necessarily trust it to stop a bullet though! I've not lifted a BMW official hard top, but I imagine this would compare quite favourably on weight - easily lifted between me and my OH.

When do you need it shifted by?
Have you got a photo of the scratch? Any other damage/issues?

Love the rear window - I'm not in the market for a hard top having now confirmed to myself that I'm a die hard top down man but if I had to buy one this would be it!

No massive rush, though I'm away from Monday to Monday so before or after then for collection. I'm struggling to get a pic on my iPhone that really shows it properly. It's less noticeable than I thought in real life though! The other marks are dust and the smear where I tried to get rid of the dustScooba_Steve wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2017 5:37 pm When do you need it shifted by?

As a side note, these are what the mounts look like- there are no covers. Not sure if the oem ones would fit?
