If they were bought direct from WP (WinnerPower I believe), and were given the wrong info, then surely they can just get a full refund?
More importantly, how much did they pay for them? Not the 'WP retail price' as quoted in the text message, but the auction price?

Surely 6 pots front and back is massive overkill too? And you'll end up with a 50/50 brake bias which isn't ideal...

The number of pots doesn't really have anything to do with brake force, that is mainly governed by pad area and the distance it is acting on from the center of the wheel (disc diameter).
All other things being equal you can work out the bias from that.
But I agree the bias looks like it would be 50/50 as the discs are the same diameter front and back, and the calipers look identical?
Quite unusual and as you say not ideal.

you're not gonna end up with 50/50 bias, thats virtually impossible with the system in the z4.mjennings23 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2017 8:48 am Surely 6 pots front and back is massive overkill too? And you'll end up with a 50/50 brake bias which isn't ideal...
The master brake cylinder already gives a different front/rear bias as the cylinder bore for the rear brakes in the master brake cylinder is of different size as the cylinder bore for the front brakes.TomK wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2017 9:29 am The number of pots doesn't really have anything to do with brake force, that is mainly governed by pad area and the distance it is acting on from the center of the wheel (disc diameter).

As far as brake bias goes caliper side, you forgot that the total piston area also plays a role.
That all together makes it very difficult to calculate/estimate the brake bias because 1. you dont know if piston sizes are the same front&rear (calipers at least dont look the same size) and 2. pads most likely arent the same size, and also dont get equal pressure.
F/R calipers certainly dont look identical to me.

A much better description of what's going on, thank you! Yes I was aware that piston area would affect things but my point was that 6 pots isn't necessarily more 'powerful' than 4 pots or a single pot.
I only briefly looked but (wrongly) assumed the calipers were identical given the disc size was identical front to rear, as you say to try and work out what effect it will have on bias you would need all the information above.
I have noticed a few cars recently (porsche from recollection) that are being supplied with identical sized discs front and rear which I thought was unusual.

Ditto.
Rear calipers look to be about 60% the size of the fronts.
Does anyone else think that that the swept area looks smaller than OEM CSL discs - but that of course could be an optical illusion, or made up by the pad covering more arc of the disc.

Exactly my thoughs, also I don see anyone paying that much when you can get ap's for less.mmm-five wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2017 8:38 pm If they were bought direct from WP (WinnerPower I believe), and were given the wrong info, then surely they can just get a full refund?

Folks, this was posted on the Zed Facebook page. Something about it not looking right from the start... I'll find the post, but I'd advise caution at first.

Stay well away from these. The thread is hard to follow on Facebook but from my reading (granted, assumption);
- bought for £1,000
- has realised they're not for an E89 as they're missing the electronic hand brake piece
- thinks he can fit the fronts but deciding to flog them for £4k...
Having been conned for £200 when I was 17, I'll be reporting this post and user. Not interested in con men.

Fark, not sure what the go is, WP DO make great racing brakes for bikes, nfi about cars though.
The dics do look strange, and a close up of them would be great. Nearly looks like they are full floaters? If it is a legit WP kit, then no idea how old mate got them for 1k pounds.. anyhows the kit actually looks very nice.. no idea about performance either.. and if it's a one off, how about replacement parts when the time comes??
