Lowering spring decisions

So I'm looking at lowering my z4. I currently have a 3.0si with m sport suspension. Any suggestions on what drop I should have?

Most people do the Bilstein B12 which lowers 30mm over standard which is about 15-20mm on m sport sus.

Is that full suspension set up rather than just springs?

Yeah Bilstein B8 shocks and Eibach Pro springs.

Personally I wouldn't like just changing springs - can be done but the ride will be terrible. Plus how many miles has the current dampers got on them?

I have the eibach pro springs on the standard M-sport suspension, down about 20mm. In my opinion the ride is better as the springs are progressive and the handling is slightly better. Obviously if you go for Bilstein dampers as well, the handling will be even better but these aren't exactly poor handling cars from the factory so any improvement is good! In my opinion, if you can afford to renew the dampers definitely do it, but if not, the springs on m-sport shocks are also a nice improvement in stance and handling. :)

I second what PboroRyan says. Mine is lowered on Eibachs with standard M shocks and the ride is certainly no worse than stock but the car looks much better.
Z4R 3.0si Sport auto. So far: 19" CSLs, Eibachs, MM exhaust tips, de-badged rear, stubby, black grilles, spacers, aux cable, interior LEDs, LED boot strip......

Most go down the eibach route, or eibach and bilstein dampers. Some go the whole hog b12 kit but some have paired b4 dampers with the eibachs and have had good results. If you really want to hurt your credit card then getting some coilovers is also an option.

I would add spacers as well to really improve the look/stance regardless of which spring/dampers route you choose..

I went eibach pro on standard shocks, the shocks had been replaced in the past. In the future I would change them to B12's as they feel firmer in hard cornering.

I'm looking at getting a refurb soonish and feel I want to go dark - yours really suits the car?
