no advantage, person pref....DONDP wrote:Looking good, think I am swaying towards the look of the EC7 over the Arc 8
Just a quick question. Assuming I am going to run a 265 width tyre on the rear, what is the advantage of running a 10" wide rear wheel over a 9.5 wide wheel?

I actually prefer the look of the Arc 8 but the EC 7 has greater clearance for the calipers. That swayed the decision in the end.DONDP wrote:Looking good, think I am swaying towards the look of the EC7 over the Arc 8

Re: Finally took some pics with the new calipers
Yeah I remember you mentioning that on another thread. I had a quick chat with Apex and they were under the impression that 18" Arc8s would clear the 380 Stoptech kit. When comparing the fitting templates from AP Racing and Stoptecs it appears the APs require less clearance than the Stoptechs. So the ARC8s should fit.tertius wrote:

what info did you get form them? if only we could get someone to test the fitting template...

I'd have to go back over the mail exchange I had with them. They were very helpful.DONDP wrote:Yeah I remember you mentioning that on another thread. I think you are right, the Arc 8s would clear the AP kit, though there are two versions of the AP BB caliper, one needs more clearance than the other and it's bl**dy difficult to work out which you have - the model number is etched on the under side of the caliper block, so you have to get the caliper right off.
It may have been to do with the offsets and the EC7 being a closer match to my current wheels - I certainly wanted them to match as closely as possible.

Re: Finally took some pics with the new calipers
their where 2 types of calliper that fitted the z4m, the cp5575 and the cp5555, the cp5575 which is the one AP would ship for the z4m, is the same as the cp5555 ( sent out in the e46 m3 kit) but basically takes a pad that is 1mm thinner, 17mm vs 18mm, the cp5575/cp5555 offers no difference in external look or performance, just better wheel clearance as its basically a slightly thinner calliper , pad choice is also the same.
on the wheels i prefer the ec7, better brake clearance, looks better and the offsets are better for the z4m imo... What ever the wheel you don't want one that offers like 2mm of calliper clearance imo.... AP calls for a minimum of 4 mm between the wheel drum / or the spoke.

What brand are those rotors? They look a little different then my AP rotors?

Are the PF rotors better then the AP rotors? Why would you want you fit PF rotors on your AP racing brake system?Beedub wrote:they look like performance friction to me.Franzino wrote:What brand are those rotors? They look a little different then my AP rotors?

Cheaper and better. They are completely interchangeable.Franzino wrote:Are the PF rotors better then the AP rotors? Re: Finally took some pics with the new calipers
Well, I think the truth is there isn't a lot in it; but the general view seems to be the PF rotors last longer; they are also cheaper and easier to get - AP hardly ever seem to have stock. Certainly when I last needed replacements I was recommended the PF (by someone who sold both).Franzino wrote:What is better with PF rotors?tertius wrote: Cheaper and better. Re: Finally took some pics with the new calipers
i love the PF rear rotor as it uses a bell design so it should be lighter, the AP one piece rear rotor is heavy and could be better, come change time i will move to the PF rear, and depending on price ill add the PF ring to the AP front bell.

That looks brilliant. The blue callipers look great. Have you got any video of it on track?
