Yep i have indeed considered a 55 AMG -and drove its big brother SL55 which was dissapointing -apparently their electrics are a nightmare
Does the SLK have the same electrical gremlins as the SL? I think it's a slightly newer model and I'd imagine it isn't quite as complicated as the big SL

I’ve been looking at these for a while. Took one for a drive and the noise was amazing, but the interior of the R171 is nasty. The R172 is much nicer inside but that’s knocking on the door of £30k at the moment.
No doubt the newer model is nicer inside but how did the older model steer? I think I could over look a slightly dodgy interior for a small roadster with a huge V8 up front if it steered well.

What he said...

If you had to change though, I reckon an E63 M6 cab could be good fun, incredible value and sound unbelievable...probably drive like a tank though?
Cant see the point of a cab which is going to be a rattle box -at least the MR was designed with built in stifness
The fact remains that there simply arent many decent days up here when i'm off and able to take my MR out for nice run
Also TBH the MR isnt that happy on our shoddy B roads -it much prefers smooth tarmac
Also it feels kind of wide on B roads -not sure why that is -maybe its just my perception -i'm always concious of its girth for some reason
Anyway its tucked away on trickle now till April
I live up a mile private potholed muddly farm track which is barely passable even in my CRV in the winter -so no point ruining the MR
The m6 cab is hardly flexible, it's just a big car, know what you mean though!

What tyres/suspension are on the zed? Makes a big difference...

Cant help the weather or pot hole situation though :(

What about a hot hatch? Some are brilliant fun
Hot hatch does not appeal -not sepcial enough
Im on stock suspension -all new at 42k and new F1s
Handles very well actually -its just a bit twitchy thats all

I have a B7 RS4 Avant as a daily driver. It's a heavy car but handles remarkably well on country lanes due to its adaptive suspension. It's far more tolerant or poor surfaces than my modified ///M and accelerates to 60 mph in under 5 seconds, even on wet or muddy roads. It might be the ideal solution for your combination of fast car and farm track requirements.

With so many companies now capitalising on the want and NEED from real drivers to get back to basics, and seemingly away from where we have arrived as a modern day motoring world..... i'll say it again, stick with your awesome analogue platform and make some changes..... You will not believe what it can become, with alittle time, effort and money.

Just like this old alfa.... the z4m has all the ingredients, we just need to add alittle heat, and some spice, and enjoy

Thanks for posting the video. I love the Giulia GTA anyway but the Alfaholics version would be awesome. I've added it to my list of cars that I'll never be able to afford :D

So just paid for my insurance on the M for another year at £125.81
For comparison my wife's picanto [with me on the policy] came in at £130.02
Hard to figure how they work out the realtive risk on those prices
That's kind of made my mind up now to keep the MR as my insurance would rocket if i switched cars -even a humble MX5 would be a lot higher apparently

i wish mine was cheaper to insure..... the cost of running the car with my level of modifications is painful.

Imagine how much worse it would be if I’d gone ahead with supercharging and using mine as a daily driver :fuelfire:

Very enjoyable 25,000 miles a year, but very expensive way to burn cash - almost as expensive as pyrotechnics, as that is literally setting cash alight :P

My Z4MC was less than £1000 a year for 25k miles, business class 1, parked on the road in Liverpool and with 3 points.

After the accident, and including the Alfa on a 10k/10k mileage’s split with Admiral multicar, the price is still less than £1000. Not bad considering I’d just had an 'at fault' claim.

Trigger’s Z4MC
Some bits now over 163,000 miles, some less than 1,000 miles.

With Admiral on a multi-car policy -and only 2k miles pa and £250 vol excess
Then again I'm an old man so maybe reason for lowish premium
Perhaps having a boring CRV as my daily qualifies me for a discount on the MR ?
Nonethless I recall my Mazda Eunos cost >£200 to insure and my XKR was >£300 also on ltd miles
So perhaps the MR is also lower risk
I just said fine and made the renewal on the spot before they changed thier mind

I am with Admiral but at 42 I am paying £305.00. Greater Manchester has its drawbacks on insurance. Mine is on 3k miles but £125 is amazing. How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

If you do, then post up a picture and I'll guess... :D
