A great way into Cruise Control
Hello everyone,
I’m new to the forum and about to buy a Z4MC
I’m interested in retrofitting a cruise control...guess I will have to get the stalk and the loom (I understand one of the members - Dan? - has built a loom). Do I need to get the steering column cowl as well?
Of course any instructions on how to do the job are greatly appreciated (I live in Dublin and the South East where Dan lives is a bit too far)
Thanks in advance!

I may take you up on that. I need to get the stalk for the column as well. Where do you get this from...BMW?john-e89 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2017 2:27 pmIf you’re ever passing near to me, next to Chatsworth in the Peak District, I’ll cut it for you Harvard. Steve’s in the South East, others who have retro fitted one of his looms can confirm about the instructions, I was fortunate to have Steve do it

Alternatively if you want to unscrew the cowl and post it I’ll do it that way.
Actually if Steve pops me a loom I’ll fit the whole shebang for a donation to the forum.
One of the big things my car is missing is CC

Sopers is the dealer of choice as you ‘may’ get a small discount if you mention the forum. Ring them and they’ll get you the stalk Harvard. If you PM SRHutch he’ll sort you a cable out I’m sure.Havard wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2017 5:31 pmI may take you up on that. I need to get the stalk for the column as well. Much earlier than I thought - wonder if thats the same for the other looms?srhutch wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2017 4:53 pmProduction date around Oct 04 was the cut off for cars fitted with CC looms iirc.Marlon wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2017 12:24 pmJust to add - one of the big advantages of pre-facelift Zeds is the fact that they are (usually) pre-wired with looms so cruise, MFSW and heated electric seats will plug and play, which makes retro-fitting so much simpler. I found out the hard way fitting M Sport seats into my 2008 si.
As Daz said I’m in the south east, but it’s not a hard job for an indi or fellow forumite to be able to help with.

Post some pics up when you get your car when you get it and do a little introduction, be nice to see
If you pm Steve, srhutch, he’ll fill you in on the why’s and wherefores, you don’t need the cowl, you just drill the hole, there’s an imprint on the inside of the cowl to help you,

Darren Slone, you sure your fitting was completed though? You know that Steve has the, uh, reputation to start a mod but never actually completely finish it ...

Hello Darren, all,
thanks! Yes, will share some pictures once I get the car (hopefully Friday 10th!)
Also thanks for the info and advice regarding the cruise control...will get the part and, if I feel brave enough, I might give it a go myself after a PM to Steve (aka srhutch).
Be in touch soon!
